For those looking for a house to buy or rent, the search experience makes a difference

After investigating different real estate websites and portals, we created a tool that offers an experience to users when using maps to find properties to buy or rent, and explore the surrounding region.

We started with the study of the tools already available on the market and analyzed how maps are used for the purpose of searching for properties online. We chose to focus on maps, as it is an interesting evolution for users' usability.

The main challenge was to define the best usability in the use of map filters, especially on mobile devices. The final design allowed users the option of viewing establishments close to the property of interest, such as restaurants, gyms, schools, and hospitals.

In this experience, if the user has already selected a specific house or apartment, the person will be able to explore stores and establishments close to the desired property. Alternatively, users who have decided to live near a specific shopping center can view the properties available in that region.

The custom filter allows users to view the transport options in the region of the interested property. The user can visualize the travel time to work using a car, bicycle, subway, or walking.

With the travel time functionality, it is possible to visualize how long it will take for the user to arrive at different points in the city, starting from the property of interest. The time varies according to the type of transport selected and the traffic situation in the region. To assist the user in this process, it is also possible to activate the traffic filter available on the map to view more details.

Inspired by different websites and apps, such as Google Maps and Zillow, we explored what was possible to add to the map navigation to make the journey of online real estate search more interesting and customizable.

For a more complete experience, the user can view the details of the house or apartment without leaving the map navigation page. In the property card, the user can view photos, the number of rooms, bathrooms, and parking spaces.
